Why Aluminum Alloy Wheel?
- It has a better balance capability.
- It provides fuel saving by decreasing the total vehicle weight as it is lighter compared to the sheet metal wheels.
- It prolongs the life of tyres and brake pads by quickly transferring the heat occurred in the tyre and brake system.
- It provides better handling and enhances the balance of the vehicle.
- It is excellently compatible with tubeless tyres.
- It has a wider model range compared to other wheel options.
- It has an aesthetic aspect which gives an exclusive look to the vehicle.
Common misconceptions & advice
Wheel is an important part which is directly related to your safety, purchase a product you trust.
Wheel is one of the most important products for personalisation of automobiles. The most important matter about the light alloy wheels is that, other than positive enhancement of criterias such as performance, driving comfort,economy and visual enhancement,that it is a part about your safety which is critical for you and your loved ones’lives. Purchase a product you trust.
What is the material of the wheel?
Wheels are commonly produced from 4 different materials.
Aluminum alloy wheels; are falsely known as Alloy wheel inChina. Though it may change depending on the material type, it is roughly a 90% Aluminum, 10% Silicium alloy. The total of other materials composing the alloy such as Titanium and Magnesium are below 1%.
Sheet metal wheels; are produced by cold formation of two sheet metal parts and welding them. It is generally produced as black.Usually a plastic hubcap which covers the whole front surfaceis used for visual enhancement.
There is a new trend of sheet metal wheels which have been introduced in the recent years by some of the manufacturers, which are formed like a spoked wheel and covered by a plastic cover which makes them resemble Aluminum alloy wheels.
Magnesium alloy wheels; can only be used in Formula 1 and in some super cars due to their high cost.Total production of these wheels are very low.
Composite wheels; have started to be seen in the fairs in the recent years and they are usually very light and durable products that use carbon fibre and polymer composites. Their prices are high and production numbers are low due to their costs and difficult production methods.
Some more advice...
Check the wheels visually before purchasing. There should not be any casting holes which look like pores on the surface of the wheel.
There should not be any paint or varnish on the surface where bolts or nuts will sit while fitting the wheel on the car. Any paint on these surfaces might cause bolts/nuts to loosen.
Use quality wheel bolts/nuts. (Use originals when available.) Chrome looking wheel bolts/nuts might loosen because of the coating on them. Either avoid using or check them periodically.
ETRTO (Europen Tyre and Wheel Technical Organization) recommends use of a metal valve for tubeless V, W, Y and ZR type passenger car tyres that can be used over 210 km/h.
Use definitely winter tyre in winter.Winter tyres are not snow tyres, it is the tyre that should be used in cold weather conditions.
Your wheel should be assembled without any additional process or problems.
The wheel you have purchased should be assembled without any problems and any additional operations. We do not recommend operations like hub hole enlargement, additional machining from off-set surface or modifications on wheel bolt holes. Use of spacers in order to adjust the off-set distance on wheels should not be preferred. If it is necessary to use spacers, longer wheel bolts (as long as the spacer) should be used. If your vehicle requires nuts for mounting wheels, never use a flange thicker than 5mm. The number of the threads held by the nut will decrease because of the flange.
The wheel you purchased should be able to carry the weight of your vehicle.
The wheel-car fitment table which is prepared regarding both geometric properties and the test loads of the wheels is called an Application Table.This application table is the most important source for your safety while choosing the wheel you want. This table should essentially include the test load and vehicle weight information. Any table which contains just PCD and off-set information does not guarantee the weight capacity of the wheel, therefore is inadequate.
On a wheel, which lacks an application table and does not include wheel test load and vehicle weight info, test load of the wheel could be found written(especially on the back of the spoke). This written value should be more than half of your cars designated axle weight. If no information can be found on the wheel, it is, by no means, possible to whether the wheel is suitable for handling your car’s weight.
You can both use our website by filtering our designs with your car’s information and you can download our application table. If you can not match your car with the product you intend to buy, unfortunately that wheel will not fit your car and is not safe to use.
How much should we increase the diameter of our wheel?
Purchase a wheel that fits your vehicle in diameter and width. For a long and healthy use, CMS recommends not to increase the diameter and width of original wheels of your automobiles more than two inches.
Positive effects of increasing wheel width and diameter;
1. Changes the visual perception of your vehicle.
2. Better handling on non-slippery road conditions.
3. As the diameter of the wheel increases, the thickness of the tyre sidewall decreases.Because of this, reactions of the steering wheel become more noticeable.
4. Because of shorter tyre side wall, the car inclines less when cornering.Performance tyres can be used.
Negative effects of increasing wheel width and diameter;
1. Shorter tyre side wall makes smaller bumps on the road more noticeable, therefore affects driving comfort negatively.
2. As width of tyre increases, handling on wet and slippery road conditions suffer.
Effects of increasing wheel diameter and width more than recommended;
1. Risk of impact on your wheels increases as the tyre sidewall thickness of your tyres decreases.
2. Driving comfort decreases noticeably.
3. Steering might feel heavier if track width of the vehicle increases.
4. Turning radius of the vehicle increases with track width of the vehicle.
5. The clutch might be negatively affected and fuel consumption might increase.
